CANNES: At the first of the 56th annual Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival award ceremonies on Monday, 22 June 2009, in Cannes, France, TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Johannesburg scooped South Africa's only Lion of the evening, a Silver Direct Lion for its Trillion Dollar Campaign for The Zimbabwean. By Press Now invitation, On 11 of May 2009, Mr Armen Sakhlyan, director of Lori TV in Armenia, and his assistant and translator Murad Muradian came to the Netherlands to take part in the CIRCOM Conference . Since 2006 the Armenian Lori TV has been receiving support from Press Now. The educational tour in the Netherlands was completed by a visit to their Dutch colleagues at RTV Noord station, Omroep Fryslân and Press Now office itself.

On 23 and 24 May Iraq experienced its first international journalist conference with guests all over the world. Content was not the issue, instead it was mainly meant to show that a conference like this is possible again after years of violence. Judit Neurink, director of the Independent Media Centre Kurdistan, reports on the event in Dutch newspaper Trouw (only in Dutch).

In maart 2009 besloot Soedan dertien buitenlandse hulporganisaties het land uit te zetten, als reactie op het arrestatiebevel van het Internationale Strafhof tegen president Omar al-Bashir. Op 27 mei organiseert Radio Darfur Network een debat dat aansluit op deze ontwikkelingen.

Our programme coordinator ElisaBetta Plebani was in Chisinau during the historical events following upon the 5 April parliamentary elections. After the communists claimed victory, thousands of students came to the capital to protest. ElisaBetta was able to observe and cover the event.
