During the year, Press Now offers several internships. Students in journalism, communications, international affairs, political sciences, or another relevant subject, who are interested in media development and political developments in the regions in which Press Now works, can apply for an internship. Good verbal and writing skills of both English and Dutch, as well as the ability to work with computers and internet are required. Expertise Support
Press Now often engages external experts in projects targeting journalistic skills, editorial policy, programming, strategy development, business plans, financial management, and cooperation within regional networks. If you are an expert in one or more of these subjects, and you would like to offer your expertise and qualities in order to help your colleagues or partner media outlets to professionalize and become independent and self-sustainable, please contact Wilco de Jonge (Executive Director) at dejonge@pressnow.nl or +31 35 62 54 300. We welcome your expertise, and if it fits in our activities, maybe you can become involved as a consultant or trainer in one of our projects!
Twinning
Press Now uses twinning as an intervention strategy in order to help its partners to professionalize. Press Now initiates contact between its partners in the region and comparable media outlets or organisations in The Netherlands (e.g. newspapers, broadcasters, or journalism faculties). An example is the twinning relationship Press Now has initiated in May 2005 between the Moldovan newspaper ‘Timpul’ and the Dutch daily ‘NRC Handelsblad’. Professional media outlets or organisations that sympathise with Press Now’s mission and are interested in supporting colleague media outlets or organisations in one of the countries we work in, can offer their expertise and know-how, send an experienced employee as a trainer or consultant, offer financial support, or other initiatives to support our partners.
